Need help on low volleys?
Bend like a skateboarder
At the net, do you hit weak "pop-up" volleys when the ball comes low to your feet? If so, you're probably bending only at the waist to reach the ball. That type of stiff bending doesn't allow you to move or react quickly enough to return low balls. As a result, you drop the racquet head and hit a weak, off-balance, pop-up volley instead of a solid, penetrating one. Anyone who's into skateboarding knows that the way to stay balanced is to keep the body's center of gravity low by bending at the knees and the waist. Use this technique when you hit low volleys in tennis. Bend at the knees and waist and keep your racquet head level with your hand. Your volleys and overall net game will go on a roll!
